Tina Johnston’s first novel “Tomorrow, Insha’allah!” is about Kate, a woman in her late thirties, who escapes memories of a disastrous marriage by living a traveller’s life. But after a few years memories fade and with it the excitement of living in a camper van. Kate falls in love with Morocco and its firework of colours, spices and scents, mystic and music. Building a house in one of the country’s remote hill top villages, though, can sometimes be a nightmare. Especially for a single woman.

With humour and patience Kate takes on the male dominated society. She braves overbearing builders and orchestrates a capricious workforce. The motley cast of Moroccan neighbours introduces her to village intrigues, family disputes and traditions such as eating with you fingers and baking bread in the fire. But there are considerable gaps between the two cultures and sometimes it seems impossible to build a bridge.

When Kate escapes for a weekend to Marrakech, she finds the magic of Morocco restored and falls in love with Philipe, a French ex-pat. Yet, a series of misunderstandings and unforeseen problems push Kate to her limits and towards a decision that could have devastating consequences.
